Piedmontese folding knife, a simple but effective mechanism. The oldest folding knives discovered in the Italian region of Piedmont. Its rustic system is sometimes called friction. The Piedmontese type knife has a protuberance called a lens which rests on the handle to block the rotation of the blade. This lens prevents the blade from closing when held by the thumb or hand.
